 Description:

This event features a panel discussion on the state of refugee rights in 2017. Is Toronto really a sanctuary city?/ Refugees experience with Islamophobia, anti-black racism / Healthcare for refuges / Refugee claimants and human rights.

Spoken word performance by Maseh Hadaf, York University Global Health Student

Panelists:

– Rosa Solorzano (youth activist, FCJ Refugee Centre)

– Gilary Massa (a proud Afro-Latina Muslim with long history in community activism, active in student and labour movements for over a decade)

– Dr. Praseedha Janakiram (Physician at Crossroads Clinic for refugees)

– Andrew Brouwer (refugee lawyer and refugee rights and human rights activist)

Co-moderators: Debbie Douglas – Ontario Council of Agencies Serving Immigrants, and  Mbalu Lumor – Canadian Centre for Victims of Torture
